Bringing gardening and horticulture activities to people with physical, mental, cognitive and emotional health challenges.
what is horticultural therapy?
Horticultural therapy is gardening and plant-based activities, facilitated by a trained therapist, to achieve therapeutic treatment outcomes. Outcomes include improved memory and cognitive abilities, task initiation, language skills, and socialization. In physical rehabilitation, horticultural therapy can strengthen muscles, improve coordination, balance, and endurance. Today, horticultural therapy is widely accepted as a beneficial and effective therapy employed within rehabilitative, vocational, and community settings. It is nature, art, caring, community, ultimately finding peace and joy in the simple act of tending a garden.
